About Parque Nacional Bahía de Loreto e Isla Coronado
The Bahía de Loreto National Park has protected since 1996 an area of the Gulf of California with five islands: Coronado, Carmen, Danzante, Montserrat and Santa Catalina. It is part of the Islands and Protected Areas of the Gulf of California World Heritage site.
Coronado Island, the closest, has a white-sand beach and turquoise water, with a colony of sea lions on the rocks and good snorkel areas. It is the most common excursion from Loreto.
Dolphins are common in the bay, and from January to March blue whales, the largest animal on the planet, usually feed offshore along with other whales.
Tours depart from the downtown port of Loreto with authorized operators, who pay the park fee.
