About Tiburón Ballena en la Bahía de La Paz

The whale shark is the largest fish in the world, reaching over 10 meters, and feeds on plankton, harmless to people. In La Paz bay, juveniles often appear close to shore, in front of the mogote, from October or November through April.

The area is protected, and tours follow government rules: authorized boats, a limited number of vessels and swimmers at a time, maximum time in the water and a minimum distance from the animal. Do not touch the shark or use a flash.

Tours depart from the malecón and last about three hours. When the sea or the season does not allow swimming, it is possible to view the animals from the boat.

The season and the number of animals vary each year, and the area can be closed during some periods; operators provide current conditions.
