The city

What to expect from La Paz.

La Paz is the capital of Baja California Sur, on the shore of a bay of the Gulf of California. Quieter than Los Cabos, it has a malecón with sculptures, turquoise-water beaches like Balandra and El Tecolote, and is the base for boat trips to Espíritu Santo Island, where sea lions live, and for seeing the whale shark between autumn and spring.
