About Malecón de La Paz
La Paz’s malecón runs along the bay for about 5 km, from the city center to the marina. It has a wide sidewalk, bike lane, palm trees and benches, and is the place residents stroll at the end of the day.
Along the way there are sculptures by Mexican artists, such as the whale, the diver and the man of the sea, and a pier that extends over the water. The urban beach opposite has sand and calm water.
On the other side of the avenue, cafés, ice-cream shops and seafood restaurants stay open late. Near the malecón are the cathedral of Nuestra Señora de La Paz and the whale museum.
Because the bay faces west, the sunset over the water is the city’s most sought-after.
