About Cachoeira de Biausevu (Savu Na Mate Laya)

Biausevu Waterfall, also called Savu Na Mate Laya, is inland on the Coral Coast, on the lands of the village of Biausevu, a few kilometers from Queens Road, near Korolevu. The waterfall drops from a moss-covered rock face into a pool surrounded by forest.

The visit starts in the village, where visitors are received and pay the community entrance fee, which maintains the trail. From there, the path follows the river, crosses the riverbed several times and passes taro plantations and stretches of forest, until reaching the waterfall in about 30 to 45 minutes of walking.

At the end, the pool allows swimming under the falls, and the rocks around it are used to rest. The trail is easy, but has sections of wet rock and river crossings with water at ankle or knee depth.

As with any visit to Fijian village land, it is advisable to arrive wearing clothing that covers shoulders and knees in the village and to follow the guidance of the locals.
