About Højerup Gamle Kirke
Højerup Gamle Kirke sits beside the Stevns Klint cliff. The medieval building lost its chancel when part of the ground gave way in 1928. The remaining structure was consolidated, and the absence of that part of the church explains its direct relationship with coastal erosion.
The visit combines architecture and landscape. The sea-facing area allows you to recognise the interrupted plan and observe the Baltic. Højerup’s new church is located elsewhere in the village and should not be confused with this building on the cliff edge.
