How to get there

  • Adelaide Airport (ADL) West Beach · 7 km
  • Adelaide Central Bus Station 1 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before booking. Adelaide Airport (ADL) is about 7 km from the centre, served by express buses and taxis. Long-distance coaches arrive at the central station on Franklin Street, and long-distance trains at Adelaide Parklands terminal in Keswick.

How many days

Two days: one for the centre with the Central Market, North Terrace, botanic garden and Adelaide Oval, and another for Glenelg or the Hills with Mount Lofty and Cleland. Hahndorf and the Barossa Valley require separate days.

When to go

In spring and autumn, with mild days. Summer is hot and dry, with some very hot days; February and March host the city’s festivals.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Not for the city: the tram links the centre to Glenelg, and buses and trains cover the suburbs, with a transport card or contactless payment. There are buses to Mount Lofty and Cleland, but a car makes it easier; in Australia you drive on the left.
