About Elephant Hall de Letaba
The Elephant Hall is located in Letaba camp, on the bank of the river of the same name, in the central Kruger. It is a small museum dedicated to the biology and history of the park’s elephants.
The main attraction is the tusks of the Seven Magnificents, seven bull elephants that became famous between the 1960s and 1980s for the size of their tusks, each with its own name, such as Mafunyane and Shingwedzi. Nearby panels explain diet, herd life, communication and tusk growth.
Letaba camp sits on a bend of the river, and the restaurant terrace overlooks the water, where it’s common to see elephants, buffalo and hippos.
The visit pairs well with a safari along the road that follows the Letaba River.
