About Sedir Adası ve Kedrai Örenyeri

Sedir lies in the Gulf of Gökova and combines coastal scenery with remains of ancient Kedrai. Visiting depends on a boat from points on the mainland coast. The island is a different programme compared with Marmaris harbour, although it can be arranged as a trip from that base.

The route combines ruins and the beach area known by the name linked to Cleopatra. The grains and the sand strip have specific protection: material must not be removed nor should visitors walk outside permitted areas. The personal-connection story with Cleopatra belongs to tradition and need not be treated as fact to appreciate the place.

Check transport, ticketing and allowed time before you go. In some tour combinations the boat serves other stops, so it’s important to know how much time will be spent on the island. Navigation and bathing conditions change, and the visit should not rely on a promise of calm seas.
