About Eski Datça
Eski Datça is an old quarter of the town of Datça, set apart from the main stretch of the shoreline. The walk goes along streets of small-scale stone houses, with a built landscape different from the waterfront. It should not be confused with the Knidos site, which is located at the tip of the peninsula.
The visit is based on the ensemble of façades, passages and public spaces. Some buildings house services and others remain residential, so the walk does not assume entering private properties. The relationship between the paving, the walls and the vegetation helps to understand the character of the quarter.
Set aside a short, attentive period, preferably at a cooler time of day. Combine Eski Datça with other parts of the town, without trying to include a large circuit of the peninsula in the same outing. If you are using local transport, confirm the return boarding before you start walking the smaller streets.
