About Dara Antik Kenti
Dara preserves traces of an ancient city on the plain southeast of Mardin, next to the village of the same name.
The site includes urban structures, excavated areas and systems related to water use. The visit lets you observe a Late Antique city in a different topographic position, unlike Mardin's hillside. The sectors are spread out and need to be understood together to make sense of the ruins.
Allow time for the different open points and for walking between them. Don’t expect a route contained within a single building: the visit is connected to the village and the surrounding landscape. A guide or reading the interpretive material helps distinguish the functions of the structures that remain.
