About Xanthos Örenyeri
Xanthos is near Kınık and showcases an important city in Lycian history. The ensemble is recognized together with the Letoon sanctuary, but the two sites have different access and functions. The visit allows observation of local traditions in contact with architectural forms of the Greek world.
Funerary monuments and inscriptions play a central role in reading the site, along with remains of the theater and urban spaces. Not all artifacts found remain on site, so interpretation also depends on panels and the relationship between structures.
Arrange transport around the Patara region and allow a dedicated walk, rather than treating Xanthos as a brief roadside stop. The enclosure is exposed to the sun and has uneven surfaces. Letoon can complete the circuit on the same day, with time for travel and a separate visit.
