A region to enjoy
at your own pace.

Kaş and Kalkan are coastal bases in Antalya province, with different centers and rhythms. Kaş connects to the remains of Antiphellos; Kalkan has hillside streets and regional access to Kaputaş. The two towns allow you to plan the route by direction, instead of covering the whole coast in a single day.

Patara combines archaeology and a protected stretch of sand, with Gelemiş as the typical base. Xanthos and Letoon add Lycian history in separate sites; the latter lies on the Muğla side. The circuit requires transport and dedicated periods for the open-air walks.

Üçağız brings departures for Kekova closer and can be combined with Kaleköy and Simena depending on the maritime itinerary. In Demre, Mira and the St. Nicholas museum have separate accesses and deserve a full day. Beach, heritage and sailing should be spread out without promising calm seas or visibility of all submerged remains.

This destination brings together 5 cities: Kaş, Kalkan, Patara (Gelemiş), Üçağız (Kekova), Demre.

Before you go

Practical information

A little planning leaves more time to enjoy the journey.

When to go

May, June, September and October typically combine sightseeing and the coast with milder temperatures. July and August are hot for ruins and stairways. Sailing and swimming depend on sea conditions; from November to March there is more rain and fewer seasonal services.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

How many days to stay

Five to seven days allow you to split time between Kaş or Kalkan, Patara, the Lycian circuit, Kekova and Demre. With less time, choose one base and two priority outings.

Which city to stay in

Kaş favors the urban core and services; Kalkan brings part of the Patara circuit closer, with hills to consider. Gelemiş serves the site and the beach. Üçağız reduces transfer time to the boarding point, and one night in Demre helps spread Mira and St. Nicholas into the schedule.

Respect the place

Take your trash with you, follow the signs and support local businesses. In natural areas, follow the visiting guidelines.
