About Letoon Örenyeri
Letoon is in Muğla province, beside the valley linked to ancient Xanthos. The sanctuary is part of the same heritage recognized with Xanthos, but it has a different role: here the focus is the religious space and its organization, not the whole urban city. The change of province does not prevent visiting it as part of the Patara route.
The remains of the temples of Leto, Apollo and Artemis help to understand the layout of the complex. Inscriptions found in the region were important for understanding the Lycian language, but visitors should not assume that all artifacts are on display at the site.
Plan a separate visit, with water and enough time to walk the authorized sectors. The terrain and the presence of water can change the appearance of parts of the enclosure. Combine the site with Xanthos taking the road into account, without describing the two as one continuous walk from Gelemiş.
