About Pueblo de los Pescadores
The Pueblo de los Pescadores is where Las Terrenas began: a cluster of painted wooden houses where fishermen stored boats and nets on the shore of the town's central beach. The houses were rebuilt and converted into restaurants, bars and cafés, but retain their original design, with verandas over the sand.
At night, the Pueblo is the center of village life: tables on the sand, fish and lobster, French and Italian cuisine, cocktails and music. Next door, the central beach of Las Terrenas has fishing boats, coconut palms and locals bathing.
From here you can walk along the sand to Playa Las Ballenas to the east, with small islets offshore, and to Playa Bonita to the west. It is the best spot to understand the mix of Dominican village and European colony that defines Las Terrenas.
