About Salto de Aguas Blancas
Salto de Aguas Blancas is southeast of Constanza, inside the Parque Nacional Valle Nuevo area, at over 1,600 meters altitude. It is one of the tallest waterfalls in the Caribbean: the water drops about 80 meters in successive falls down a rock face, among pines and ferns, and forms pools at the base.
From the parking area, a wooden and stone staircase descends to a viewpoint in front of the fall. The air is cold and humid, and mist often covers the tops of the surrounding mountains. Swimming in the pools is possible for those who can tolerate very cold water.
The trail to the waterfall passes potato, garlic and flower fields, with farmers' houses and views of the Constanza valley, and is part of the charm of the outing.
