About Museo Amparo
Museo Amparo opened in 1991 in two manor houses from the 16th and 18th centuries in downtown Puebla, and it holds one of the most important collections of pre-Hispanic art in Mexico, with pieces from various cultures organized by themes such as the body, time and writing.
The colonial art rooms display painting, sculpture and objects from the 16th to the 19th centuries, and the museum also hosts modern and contemporary art exhibitions.
The building was renovated with a concrete-and-glass wing, and the terrace with a café offers views over the domes and towers of the historic center and, on clear days, of the volcanoes.
The gallery texts are in Spanish and English.
