About Casa de los Once Patios
The Casa de los Once Patios was part of an 18th-century convent of Dominican nuns in downtown Pátzcuaro. Today the courtyards, corridors and stairways house workshops and craft shops from Michoacán.
Artisans work in view of visitors on techniques such as lacquer with gold leaf, backstrap loom textiles, hammered copper, embroidery and musical instruments like Paracho guitars.
The building has small courtyards with plants, fountains and whitewashed walls, on different levels connected by stairways.
It is a few blocks from Plaza Vasco de Quiroga, and the street around it has other craft shops.
