About Playa Zipolite
Zipolite beach stretches about 2 km between two rocky headlands, facing the open Pacific. The sand is golden and wide, and the sea breaks in waves that are often strong year-round, with currents.
The village grew in the 1970s as a destination for travelers seeking a secluded beach, and kept its laid-back vibe, with inns, cabins, restaurants and low beachfront bars. It is one of the few beaches in Mexico where naturism is tolerated, especially on the western section called Playa del Amor.
At the western end, the rocks form small coves and a viewpoint for the sunset. In February the village hosts a naturism festival.
Because of the waves and currents, locals usually mark with flags the sections where swimming is not allowed.
