About Cascadas de Tamasopo e Puente de Dios

The Tamasopo waterfalls are in the municipality of the same name, about 55 km from Ciudad Valles. The river drops over several wide cascades across rocks, forming turquoise pools with areas for swimming and ropes for jumping into the water.

A few kilometers away, the Puente de Dios is a stretch where the river passes under a natural rock bridge and forms a pool inside a cave. Around noon the sun enters through the opening and lights the water in shades of blue.

To reach the cave pool you descend a staircase to the river and swim with a life jacket, following the rope. The current can be strong; follow the guards' instructions.

Both sites are managed by local communities that charge an entrance fee and rent life jackets.
