About Cascadas de Micos

The Cascadas de Micos are on the El Salto river, about 20 km from Ciudad Valles, at the entrance to the mountains. They are seven falls in sequence, from a few meters up to about 7 meters high, separated by turquoise-blue pools.

The most popular activity is jumping the falls, with a life jacket and helmet, accompanied by local guides who teach where to jump. There are also kayak trips, tube floats and calm swimming areas.

The name comes from the monkeys, the micos, that once lived in the surrounding forest. The riverbank has food stalls and rest areas.

The water is cold and the current changes with the season; during the rainy season some activities are suspended.
