The city
Aquismón is a teenek village in the Sierra of the Huasteca Potosina, about 45 km from Ciudad Valles. It is the base for two of the region's best-known sites: the Sótano de las Golondrinas, a natural sinkhole over 500 meters deep from which thousands of birds emerge at dawn, and the Tamul waterfall, about 105 meters high, reached by canoe.
