About Playas de Tijuana
Playas de Tijuana is the city's beach neighborhood, about 10 km from downtown, at the point where the Mexico–United States border reaches the Pacific. The metal wall runs down the sand and into the sea, one of the most photographed images of the border.
The boardwalk has seafood restaurants, cafés and benches, and Tijuana's lighthouse sits above the neighborhood. The beach is more popular for walks and sunsets than for swimming, due to cold water.
Next to the wall is Parque de la Amistad, which used to be a meeting place for families on both sides; access from the U.S. side follows United States regulations.
Artists have painted murals on the wall about migration and the border.
