About Centro Cultural Riviera del Pacífico

The Riviera del Pacífico opened in 1930 as a hotel and casino, during Prohibition in the United States, and hosted Hollywood entertainers. The casino closed a few years later when gambling was banned in Mexico, and the building became a cultural center.

The building, in Spanish colonial style with Moorish influence, has halls with painted wooden ceilings, chandeliers, tiles and courtyards. The gardens, with fountains and palm trees, are used for weddings and events.

Inside is the Ensenada history museum, telling the region's story from the missions to the modern city, and the old casino bar where, according to local tradition, the margarita was created.

It is a few blocks from the malecón, on Avenida de la Costa.
