The city
El Fuerte is a colonial town in Sinaloa, founded in 1564 on the banks of the Fuerte river at the foot of the mountains. It has colonial mansions around the Plaza de Armas, a replica of the 1610 fort that gave the town its name, and it is the Chepe train stop most commonly used to begin or end the most popular section of the journey. It is a Pueblo Mágico.
