The city

What to expect from Vunisea.

Vunisea is the main town and provincial center of Kadavu, on a narrow strip of land between two bays. It has the airstrip, the port, a school, a hospital and shops, and is the arrival point for the island. From there lodgings take visitors by boat to the bays and islets near the Great Astrolabe Reef and Mount Nabukelevu.

Grande Recife Astrolábio (Great Astrolabe Reef)

Coral barrier along Kadavu’s east and north coasts, one of the largest in the world, with more than 60 dive sites and stations where manta rays often appear.

Monte Nabukelevu (Mount Washington)

Volcano about 800 meters high at the western tip of Kadavu, covered in forest, with a long trail to the summit guided by village guides, and birds that exist only on the island.
