About Kings Park and Botanic Garden

Kings Park occupies Mount Eliza, beside Perth's CBD, and is one of the largest urban parks in the world, covering over 400 hectares. About two thirds of the area is preserved native bushland, and the remainder is divided between lawns, picnic areas and the Western Australian Botanic Garden.

From the lookout on Fraser Avenue you can see the city, the Swan River, which opens into a wide expanse of water, and the Darling Range in the distance. Nearby are the State War Memorial, with its eternal flame, and tree‑lined avenues with plaques honoring soldiers.

The botanic garden houses thousands of plant species from Western Australia, one of the world's richest regions for wildflowers. The Federation Walkway, a glass and steel treetop path, runs through the eucalypt canopy, and the spiral DNA Tower, with its staircase, offers views over the park.

There is no entry fee. In September the park festival celebrates the wildflower season.
