About Adelaide Oval
Adelaide Oval sits in the park north of the Torrens River, a few minutes’ walk from the city centre, and has hosted cricket matches since the 1870s. Redeveloped in the 2010s, it gained modern stands and a capacity of about 53,000, yet kept the old manual scoreboard from 1911 and views toward St Peter’s Cathedral.
In summer the stadium hosts cricket, including international matches; in winter it is home to Adelaide’s Australian Football League (AFL) teams. Watching a game is the best way to experience local passion for both sports.
On guided tours visitors pass through the locker rooms, players’ areas and onto the field, and see the museum dedicated to Don Bradman, the greatest name in Australian cricket. The RoofClimb takes groups with safety equipment over the roof of the stands, offering city views.
Tours and the climb are ticketed and require booking.
