About God's Window
God's Window is a set of viewpoints on the edge of the escarpment, inside the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. The escarpment drops abruptly about 900 meters, and on clear days the view reaches the plantations and savanna of the Lowveld, toward Kruger and Mozambique.
From the parking area, a paved path climbs to viewpoints at different levels. The highest trail crosses a small moist forest, evergreen and covered in moss, fed by the mist rising from the escarpment.
Nearby are Wonderview, another viewpoint on the R534 road, and Pinnacle Rock, an isolated stone column rising from a forest ravine.
Mist is common, especially in summer and in the afternoon: if you arrive and everything is white you can wait a while or come back early the next day.
