About Lake Panic Bird Hide

Lake Panic is a small dam about 7 km from Skukuza, on the road that leads to the park's plant nursery. On the bank, a covered wooden hide allows you to observe the water up close, in silence, without the animals noticing.

It is one of the most visited places in Kruger for bird photography: herons, kingfishers, African jacanas and fish eagles often appear. Hippos and crocodiles live in the water, and other animals come down to drink at the banks.

The hide is one of the few areas in the park where you can get out of the car, because the path between the parking and the structure is fenced. Inside, silence is requested and you must not put arms or objects out of the windows.

It is close to the camp, which allows visiting more than once, in the morning and late afternoon.
