The city
Mbombela, formerly Nelspruit, is the capital of Mpumalanga and the main gateway to the southern Kruger, about 60 km from the Numbi gate and roughly an hour from Hazyview. The city has Kruger Mpumalanga Airport, shops and services to stock up for the trip. Within the city is the Lowveld National Botanical Garden on the banks of the Crocodile River, and to the west, in the Houtbosloop river valley, are the Sudwala caves.
