The city
Hermanus is the town on Walker Bay, about 120 km from Cape Town, known for shore-based southern right whale watching from July to November. The Cliff Path, roughly 12 km long, follows the cliffs from the New Harbour to the Klein River lagoon. In the town centre are the Old Harbour, the old port turned museum, and the craft market. Trails from the Fernkloof reserve rise behind the town, and the Hemel-en-Aarde valley is home to many vineyards.
