This route combines the archaeology of Éfeso with towns and landscapes of the Aegean coast. Selçuk, in İzmir province, brings you close to the ancient city, its museum and Ayasuluk. Kuşadası and Didim are in Aydın and broaden the trip toward the sea and other sites.

Éfeso requires ample time to explore the streets, the Library of Celsus and the theatre. The Ephesus Museum, St. John, İsa Bey and the House of the Virgin Mary each have their own routes. Şirince adds a walk through a hillside village, which is more rewarding when not treated as a rushed stop after visiting all the ruins.

On the coast, Güvercinada and Dilek Park offer distinct programs. Further south, Didim, Miletus and Priene allow you to compare an oracle sanctuary, a port city reshaped by the plain, and a layout on terraces. Divide the itinerary by themes and by direction to reduce time on the road.

This destination brings together 4 cities: Selçuk, Şirince, Kuşadası, Didim.

Before you go

Practical information

A little planning leaves more time to enjoy the journey.

When to go

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

How many days to stay

Four to six days for Selçuk, Şirince, Kuşadası and the Didim circuit. An itinerary focused solely on Éfeso and Selçuk can be done with two nights.

Which city to stay in

Selçuk favors archaeology and rail access. Kuşadası brings you close to the waterfront and coastal city services. Şirince suits those looking for a rural base, with greater dependence on transport. Didim allows separating the temple and the southern circuits into different days.

Respect the place

Take your trash with you, follow the signs and support local businesses. In natural areas, follow the visiting guidelines.
