A region to enjoy
at your own pace.

Bodrum occupies a peninsula in Muğla between the historic town and coastal settlements. In the center, the castle and the Museum of Underwater Archaeology show the relationship with the sea by a route other than the beach. The mausoleum and the theatre add the history of ancient Halicarnassus.

Outings around the peninsula have different rhythms. Gümüşlük ties to the landscape of Myndos, while Yalıkavak and Türkbükü offer other coves and urban shores. These are not neighborhoods you visit all in one walk from the castle; each connection requires road travel.

Boat trips and gulet voyages can be part of the itinerary, but routes and departures depend on the booked program and navigation conditions. Choose your base according to what you intend to repeat over several days: urban heritage, a particular cove, or moving between different parts of the peninsula.

This destination brings together 4 cities: Bodrum, Gümüşlük, Yalıkavak, Türkbükü.

Before you go

Practical information

A little planning leaves more time to enjoy the journey.

When to go

May, June, September and October typically combine coast and walks. July and August are hotter and busier. In winter there is more rain and fewer seasonal tours and services.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

How many days to stay

Four to five days allow one day for heritage and coastal outings in different directions. Extend your stay if you want to add a multi-night cruise.

Which city to stay in

Bodrum’s centre makes the castle, museum and waterfront walks convenient. Gümüşlük favours the west of the peninsula; Yalıkavak and Türkbükü bring programmes closer to the north. Compare sea access and transport rather than choosing only by the generic name Bodrum.

Respect the place

Take your trash with you, follow the signs and support local businesses. In natural areas, follow the visiting guidelines.
