About Playa Rincón
Playa Rincón lies in a wide bay west of Las Galeras, surrounded by hills covered with forest and coconut palms. It is about 3 km of light, fine sand, with no buildings or hotels on the front, and a sea of turquoise shades, mostly calm because the bay is sheltered from the easterly wind.
At the western tip of the beach, the Caño Frío river reaches the sea and forms a pool of fresh, cold water where you can swim among the vegetation. In the middle of the beach, simple stalls serve fried fish, lobster and cold coconut, and there are chairs and shade to rent.
The beach frequently appears on lists of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. Boat trips that depart from Las Galeras arrive by sea; those who go by land travel a road that crosses the peninsula and descends to the sand.

In the morning, when the beach is almost empty and the light is soft. In the dry season, from December to April, the sky is usually clearer.
How to get there
It is about 10 km from Las Galeras via a paved road down to the beach, or by boat departing from the village beach in about 30 minutes.
Tip
Walk to the Caño Frío river at the western tip for a fresh-water dip. Bring cash: the stalls do not accept cards.
