About Playa Frontón
Playa Frontón is a strip of light sand at the foot of a large limestone cliff—the frontón that gives the place its name—on the northeast coast of the Samaná Peninsula. There is no road or buildings: you get there by boat from Las Galeras, or by a trail through the forest.
The water is very clear, with reefs a few meters from the sand, and it is one of the best snorkel spots on the peninsula, with colorful fish, corals and sponges. The cliff has cavities and small caves, and vegetation grows right up to the beach.
On the same coast, the small Playa Madama, in a cove closed by rocks, is usually included in the same trip. The feeling is of being far from everything, less than half an hour from the village.
