About Centro de Tequisquiapan
The center of Tequisquiapan revolves around Plaza Miguel Hidalgo, with arcades, restaurants and the church of Santa María de la Asunción, with a pink façade, built at the end of the 19th century. The surrounding streets are cobblestone, with houses painted in bright colors and bougainvillea.
A few blocks away is the monument to the geographic center of Mexico, commissioned by President Venustiano Carranza in 1916, when it was considered that Tequisquiapan was at the center of the national territory.
The handicraft market sells wicker baskets and furniture, textiles and stones, and the food market serves gorditas, barbacoa and sweets.
Near the center there are hot-spring resorts, and La Pila park, with large trees, is good for walking.
