About Misión de San Miguel Concá
The mission of San Miguel Concá is located in the village of Concá, about 35 km north of Jalpan, in a warm-climate area near the Santa María River. It was built between 1754 and 1758 and is the smallest of the five missions.
The façade, in shades of orange and red, features the figure of the archangel Saint Michael at the top, images of Franciscan saints and a rabbit figure, interpreted as a symbol of the culture of the mountain peoples.
Near the village there are warm water springs and the Santa María River, popular for bathing and outings.
The mission is the village church and still gathers residents for religious festivals, such as that of Saint Michael at the end of September. Around it there is a small tree-lined square.
