About Playa de Sayulita
Sayulita beach curves in front of the village, between two rocky points. In the center of the beach, the waves break regularly over sand and rock bottom, which made Sayulita one of Mexico’s most sought-after places to learn to surf.
Surf and paddleboard schools occupy the sand, offering lessons and equipment rental. At the north point, the right-hand wave is popular with more experienced surfers. The fishing boats remain on the sand at the south corner and go out for fishing and tours.
The sand is lined with stands, restaurants and vendors. The beach fills up on weekends and during the winter season, and the surrounding village has guesthouses, cafés and shops.
The water is usually warmer from June to October. Waves tend to be larger in summer, with swells coming from the south.
