About Playa de los Muertos (Sayulita)
Playa de los Muertos is a small cove about a 15-minute walk from Sayulita’s center. The path follows the coastal street and passes the village cemetery, colorful and full of flowers, which gives the beach its name.
Sheltered by rocks on both sides, the cove usually has calm water, good for swimming and for children. The surrounding rocks host fish, and snorkeling is possible on clear-water days.
The beach is small and fills up at midday and on weekends. There is little infrastructure: some vendors and tree shade at the back of the sand.
On Day of the Dead, in early November, the cemetery along the path receives families who decorate the graves with flowers and candles.
