About Isla La Roqueta
La Roqueta lies at the entrance of Acapulco Bay, opposite Caleta and Caletilla beaches, in traditional Acapulco. It is a hilly island covered in dry forest, with small calm-water beaches on the bay side.
Boats depart from Caleta Beach and take only a few minutes. Some have glass bottoms and pass by the Virgin of the Seas, a submerged bronze statue a few meters deep, between the beach and the island.
On the island, the main beach has simple restaurants and snorkel gear rental. A trail climbs through the vegetation to the lighthouse at the top, offering views of the open sea and the city. Around the rocks you can snorkel with reef fish.
The island is a protected area, and visits are only during the day.
