About Morro de Neisau (Neisau Peak)
Neisau is one of the hills of Nacula, in the northern Yasawa group, about 240 metres high. The slope, covered with grass and shrubs, rises from the island's beaches and villages, and the top is a natural viewpoint over the northern part of the archipelago.
The trail starts near the lodgings and villages and climbs along dirt and stone paths, with some steeper sections near the summit. The walk is generally done with an island guide, who shows the way and tells stories of the area.
From the top, on clear days, you can see the Blue Lagoon and Nanuya Levu, the island of Sawa-i-Lau with its caves, and the row of islands that continues north to Yasawa. It's a good spot for sunrise and sunset.
The hill has no shade at the top, and the dry season grass makes the trail slippery in places. It's worth going up early or late afternoon and descending while there is still light.
