About Długi Targ

Długi Targ extends Długa Street toward the river, forming the representative axis of central Gdańsk. Narrow, tall façades line the old market space, where the Neptune Fountain and buildings connected to mercantile life are visible.

The ensemble lets you observe the relationship between pedestrian circulation, city gates and merchant houses. The historic appearance also results from reconstructions. The town hall and the Artus Court are part of this streetscape, but their interiors require separate visits beyond the street route.

Walk the axis to the Motława riverbank and return via the parallel streets to notice the narrow plots. Don’t limit the stroll to the central fountain. The paving and distances suit a walking circuit, with pauses to look at the façade decoration and the sequence of portals.
