About Nagyboldogasszony-székesegyház
The cathedral of Győr occupies the Káptalandomb hill, near the meeting of the rivers that structure the old core. Its history goes back to the formation of the diocese, but the building underwent alterations in different centuries. Its appearance does not correspond to a structure preserved from a single period.
The interior brings together Baroque elements and spaces related to the local religious tradition. the Héderváry chapel preserves a Gothic reference within the complex. The reliquary of Saint Ladislaus is one of the elements associated with the city’s pilgrimage history, according to the spaces shown during the visit.
Allow time for the interior before continuing around the hill. The proximity of the bishop’s castle makes it possible to combine the two visits on foot, but access routes and paths should not be assumed identical. Check religious activities when choosing the time of entry.
