About Királyi Palota

The Királyi Palota lies below the citadel, close to the Danube. The complex preserves remains of the royal residence developed between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The visit allows you to distinguish the palace from the fortification that dominates the hill.

Courtyards, gardens and reconstructed sections show how the spaces were arranged. the Fountain of Hercules is a landmark of the palace area. Rather than expecting fully furnished rooms of a baroque palace, the visitor finds a mix of archaeology, reconstruction and historical exhibition.

Plan the palace visit together with a walk through the lower town. The citadel requires a separate climb, so it’s sensible to decide the order of the two programs according to transport. Check which areas are included in the museum route before choosing your entrance.
