About Gödöllői Királyi Kastély
The Gödöllői Királyi Kastély lies east of Budapest, near the centre of Gödöllő. The baroque complex began as the residence of the Grassalkovich family and later saw another phase of use as a royal palace. The association with Elisabeth, known as Sissi, is one of the highlights of the visit.
The rooms and exhibitions present life in the residence and the transformations of the complex. The scale of a country palace differs from the monumental buildings beside the Danube. The garden extends the programme beyond the rooms, allowing observation of the façade and the layout of the volumes.
Set aside time for the round trip from the capital, including regional transport. Check which interiors and gardens are included on the date you choose. Light shows or events have a separate schedule and are not a permanent part of the regular heritage visit.
