Cities
5 cities in Split-Dalmácia in the guide

Split
Split is organized around the Palace of Diocletian, a Roman core transformed into a neighborhood. The Cathedral of São Dômnio lies within that complex, while Marjan offers trails on a wooded peninsula. Nearby, Salona and Klis add archaeology and fortifications. The port connects the city to the islands of Dalmatia.

Bol
Bol lies on the south coast of Brač and serves as a base for Zlatni rat beach and the Vidova gora viewpoint. The beach’s pebble strip extends west of town; the mountain requires a dedicated outing. The central harbour and coastal promenade allow exploration of the lower part on foot.

Hvar
Hvar is laid out around a sheltered port and a square that reaches the Cathedral of Sveti Stjepan. The Fortica occupies the hillside above the center. Offshore, the Pakleni islands offer boat trips with different stops. The town and the island share the same name, but they are not the same landing point.

Stari Grad
Stari Grad occupies a bay on the north coast of the island of Hvar. Petar Hektorović’s Tvrdalj brings architecture and literature together, while the Stari Grad plain preserves the layout of an ancient agricultural landscape. The ferry terminal is outside the town center and should be factored into arrival and departure plans.

Trogir
Trogir has a historic center concentrated on a small island connected by bridges. The Cathedral of São Lourenço and the Kamerlengo Fortress let you combine religious sculpture and coastal defenses on the same walk. The streets between the two sites are part of the urban ensemble recognized as a World Heritage site.
