The local experience
The Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial and museum preserves areas of two former camps: Auschwitz I, in Oświęcim, and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, in Brzezinka. The site is dedicated to the memory of the victims and to understanding what happened in those spaces.
