About Zamek Królewski na Wawelu

Wawel Castle sits on a hill by the Vistula, in a complex linked to the former Polish court. Courtyards, residential wings and galleries let you experience a royal seat that was expanded at different times, combining medieval and Renaissance elements.

The castle visit is organized into circuits of collections and rooms. There is no single entrance that covers all exhibitions and the other monuments on the hill. The arcaded courtyard helps you take in the palace layout even before visiting the interiors.

Choose a few circuits with enough time for each and allow for the effort of the climb. Wawel Cathedral has its own organization, although it is on the same hill. Descending afterward toward the river lets you see the hill’s position in Kraków’s layout without adding another long indoor visit.
