About Kazimierz
Kazimierz was a separate town before becoming part of Kraków and retains streets associated with Jewish and Christian history. The district lies south of the old centre and offers a route of squares, places of worship and facades that differs from the royal axis of Wawel.
The area around Szeroka Street concentrates references to Jewish life, while other streets display churches and communal spaces from different periods. Visiting the district on foot does not mean entering every synagogue: each institution has its own circuits and rules.
Choose a few streets and one interior to avoid turning the walk into a succession of facades. The walk can continue to the Vistula’s nearby banks. Restaurants and cafés support the route, but the cultural visit focuses on urban history and the district’s buildings.
